Is there anything sweeter than a newborn baby? Logan was 7 days old when I arrived at his home to do his newborn session, and this baby boy was much too busy exploring his new and exciting world to sleep! (At first, anyway!)

Babies have distinctive personalities - something I learned when I had my own daughter. She is the same now at eleven as she was as a newborn. Logan seems curious, independent, somewhat serious, and very cuddly. I've learned that it's best to let baby drive when it comes to newborn sessions. Logan preferred being naked, so I didn't force wrapping or swaddling. Babies will let you know what they want...you just have to be in tune with what they are telling you!

After Jess, his mama, gave him a short feeding and a cuddle in the rocking chair, Logan was sound asleep, and we were able to progress to the basket shots. We had great window light from big sister Savannah's room, and were able to capture these gorgeous posed shots while he was sleeping.

I sincerely love working with babies. These little people have so much to teach us about patience, the precious nature of new life, and how unique and special each of us are as human beings. The Maples family was so welcoming and kind to me. It's a privilege to be invited into a family's home, and to have a parent entrust you with their child. It's something that I approach with the utmost respect and empathy.

Wishing you all the best for the road ahead, little guy! You may be little now, but you are going to do big, big things.

Thank you Drew and Jess for having me over, and Judy for giving your son and daughter-in-law the lasting gift of photography.
